Here I am, doing my national duty in enticing our overseas talent to return for a visit. Every year, we would watch the National Day Parade on TV and crack silly jokes about some of the obiang costumes and cringe at the blatently propaganda-rish display of the nation's military might. No exception this year, though it seemed to be a more slick production.
This time, the organisers had included in the gift pack, cartoon animal hats with blinking eye lights, which were distributed to all the spectators. Everyone looked silly wearing them on TV (but I want one of them, esp. the lion kind that Mr Lee KY wore).
Towards the end of the parade, when we saw the first of the fireworks going off on TV, all of us madly dashed to the roof balcony to see the real thing. This year, the Father was slower in reaching the top floor, that's because he went off to locate his binoculars and then, he spent the rest of the 2-min fireworks display going ..."Wah! So nice! I can see the fireworks much clearer than you guys..."
