another epidemic

I am currently working chez moi on two final project reports frantically, trying my best not to step into the office. My manager has a bad, highly infectious case of swollen red eyes. He said there's an epidemic and last week, about 1000-odd cases were reported in Singapore. Since he mentioned that it's highly contagious, I find myself checking my eyes out in the mirror everytime I feel a slight itch may be coming on. So far so good...see no red. He's home resting now, with his infected red eyes kids and wife, hopefully they get well soon, and that the epidemic is contained in their Ang Moh Kio neighborhood, hehhh.

A lighter moment in the office... a fellow colleague pretend-spying and trying out Shrek ears from Mac's. As you can tell, we are professionals who take things very seriously in the office.

(Free) Gift! when you visit S'pore

Here I am, doing my national duty in enticing our overseas talent to return for a visit.

Every year, we would watch the National Day Parade on TV and crack silly jokes about some of the obiang costumes and cringe at the blatently propaganda-rish display of the nation's military might. No exception this year, though it seemed to be a more slick production.

This time, the organisers had included in the gift pack, cartoon animal hats with blinking eye lights, which were distributed to all the spectators. Everyone looked silly wearing them on TV (but I want one of them, esp. the lion kind that Mr Lee KY wore).

Towards the end of the parade, when we saw the first of the fireworks going off on TV, all of us madly dashed to the roof balcony to see the real thing. This year, the Father was slower in reaching the top floor, that's because he went off to locate his binoculars and then, he spent the rest of the 2-min fireworks display going ..."Wah! So nice! I can see the fireworks much clearer than you guys..."

Well, Happy National Day Everyone!

Taiji at Fishmart Sakuraya

We couldn't finish the sashimi & the wasabi tako. Eyes bigger than stomach. Ordered too much.

Too much sashimi?!!? This has never happened to us before.
But, our self-imposed mandate was that we couldn't LEAVE until we finish EVERYTHING. We started to taiji and bully the last few slices of sashimi to each other.

Dilly to Me: "You're small. You look like you need to eat more."

Me to Dilly: "You wanted to order all these... so you must finish them all."

Us to Dupree: "You're going off to Europe soon... no sushi there..better eat up while you can."

Thankfully, potential ugly scene averted, and our friendship stayed intact as we finished up with grace (eventually).
Have a good trip Dupree! Bring back some ham for us. We'll have more sashimi when you're back, yah?
